Self Portrait vs the Selfie
- A selfie is a photo that is taken by oneself, usually with a smartphone and typically shared via social media.
- A self portrait is a photographical representation of the photographer themselves.
- The difference between selfies and self portraits is the meaning behind the image. Usually selfies are made for fun, to show off a new outfit or a new hairdo, typically a self portrait made by a photographer has deeper meaning, a way to show ones inner self.
- I personally prefer self portraits because it shows a bit more emotion that isn't usually present in a selfie.
- I believe that neither is more important nor valuable than the other. I believe this because, even though selfies are just for getting like and comments, someone always has the option of making a selfie more in-depth emotionally. The same way someone can make a self portrait just be for show.
